Dave Myres – Chairman
Dave grew up in a small farming town in Mississippi delta. He graduated from Delta State University with a degree in Finance. While at Delta State, Myres served in the Mississippi Army National Guard, Army ROTC and Student Government. Myres financed his college entirely on his own and held numerous jobs to pay for school.
After graduation, Myres was selected for active duty Regular Army in the Army Air Defense branch. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso Tx. There he served as a Patriot Missile Maintenance Platoon Leader, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of a Patriot Missile Headquarters unit. He also had the honor of serving as the Officer in Charge of the Fort Bliss Military Funeral Team.
Myres completed his service obligation and was Honorably Discharged in 1998. Since then, Myres has been a medical sales professional with various industry leaders. He has been a sales representative, District Manager and Regional Manager. Currently, Myres is a National Accounts Manager with Pfizer Pharmaceutical’s Global Established Products division.
Myres has had the opportunity to live in 5 different states. In 2009, Dave was living in Memphis Tn., when he was offered a promotion. But the promotion required that he move to either the Minneapolis metro or the Kansas City metro area. After doing his research and visiting both areas, Myres chose the KC area. Then after visiting all of the towns around Kansas City he knew that Kansas was the side to be on and Shawnee was the perfect place for his family. Shawnee has that small town atmosphere and values that Dave remembers from his childhood.
Myres is married with 4 children and they attend Westside Family Church where they are very active. Myres volunteers as a small group leader in the children’s ministry and he has been trained to be a volunteer law enforcement chaplain.
Myres is a Republican Precinct Committeeman, Vice-Chair of NWJCR, Johnson County Delegate, Third District Alternate Delegate and Chairman of the KS GOP Platform Committee. He is also a Kansas Selective Service Board Member, Commissioner on the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission and Commissioner on the Johnson County HUD Commission. Myres is a 2016 graduate of the Republican Men’s Excellence in Leadership Series.
Missey Smith – Vice Chairman
Missey Smith grew up in Des Moines, Ia., where she met her husband, former State Senator Greg Smith and has been married to him for 32 years. She is the mother of five and “Grammy” to seven. She has worked for the same company for 17 years. She earned her associate’s degree from Johnson County Community College and is currently enrolled at Ottawa University.
After the tragic death of her daughter Kelsey, Smith has led the effort in establishing The Kelsey Smith Act which was first passed in Kansas and signed into law on April 17, 2009. To date twenty-three states have passed similar legislation. This effort included Smith testifying before House and Senate chambers in many states as well as before Congress and she continues to work on this endeavor.
She is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy, Johnson County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy and is currently attending the Johnson County Citizens Academy. She is serves on the Johnson County Residential Reappraisal Advisory Committee. Smith is a volunteer for many efforts and causes most of which revolved around her family. She is the co-founder of the Kelsey Smith Foundation, is a former Navy Ombudsman, Girl Scout & Boy Scout Leader, a former Sunday School teacher. Smith was a member of Shawnee Mission West Band-Aids (band booster club) for nearly 14 years, including being a chaperone on a trip to London.
Smith is a member of the 2019 Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service class. She has served as the Vice Chair for the 3rd District Republican Party, Republican Precinct Committeewoman, State Delegate, volunteered for different federal, state, and local campaigns and the county party.
Colton Gibson – Secretary
Colton Gibson is an emerging young Republican leader, have already built an impressive resume of experience. Gibson has worked in Office of Governor Jeff Colyer, Governor Sam Brownback, and Senator Steve Fitzgerald. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of HOPE – Liberia (non-profit based in the country of Liberia), worked at Homedia Solutions, and attended Washburn University.
Rochelle Bird – Finance Committee Chair
Rochelle Bird is a San Francisco Bay Area native and graduate of Saint Mary’s College of
California. Desiring a solid foundation, she funded her own private high school and college education,
teaching her the value of financial self-sufficiency. Rochelle started her financial career at Bear Stearns
in San Francisco. She also worked for Mellon Capital Management and a small commodities firm.
In 2010, Rochelle and her family chose to make southern Johnson County their home for the quality of
life and genuine community rooted in enduring values and common-sense ideals. She is the founder of
her own financial services company, Gemini Financial Advisors. A former Dave Ramsey endorsed local
provider, she helps people eliminate debt, save for college and retirement, and become self-sufficient.
Rochelle donates a portion of her business proceeds to benefit military veterans.
In addition to her financial experience, Rochelle has served as a Legislative Aide and an elected City
Councilwoman. She is an active Republican, including serving as the first Chair of the Conservative
Republicans of Southern Johnson County PAC and recently running for the Kansas State House of
Representatives, District 27. Rochelle was a contributor on the Darla Jaye Radio Show, as a member of
the “Jaye Team”, providing political analysis and commentary on current affairs. She is currently a State
and Congressional District delegate.
Rochelle is the proud mother of daughter Skylar, a graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas, currently
attending University of California, San Diego. Rochelle is an NRA lifetime member and attends Prince of
Peace Catholic Church.
